Sarah Ruth

Chicago Birth Doula

Your Baby. Your Body. Your Birth.

I recently learned that a baby girl deve

I'm so glad you're here.

My name is Sarah Ruth Bolocan. I grew up the youngest of four children in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California. I acquired a deep love for spending my time in the outdoors from an early age.

My husband Alyosha is my rock. We've been through our fair share of struggles but after 15 years and 3 kids he's still by my side. My family is my biggest inspiration and together we run a small organic vegetable farm 40 miles north of Chicago. When our hands aren't in the soil, we spend all our spare time by the lake shore.

My passion for supporting birthing mothers has been growing since I gave birth to my first child 14 years ago. I  believe that a mom's fulfillment and empowerment through her birthing  journey is essential and not just a nice extra. I've learned however that the feelings of empowerment and fulfillment come from different places for every mom.  That's why my doulaing philosophy is that the mother leads the way. You are on a journey of a lifetime and I'm just helping hold the map. The path through labor always has some unexpected obstacles to overcome and that's what I'm here for. A mom's priorities are my priorities, period. It's your baby, your body and your birth and I am always honored to be a part of it.

Yes to: open communication, jumping in bodies of water and yellow mangos.

I'm not here to take a partners place. Your partner knows and loves you more than anyone in the room and their role is unique and irreplaceable.  A birth partner’s experience of birth matters to me. I'm here to support every birth partner in being as involved as they’d like with the birth.

Evidence-Based Information and Advocacy

I help families connect with evidence-based resources so you can ask great questions and make informed decisions about your birth.  I'll always advocate for your very best care.
